Woodlands in the morning sun are such joyous places, and when they are full of the bloom and scene of bluebells, they create their own music and wellbeing.

A cactus must be tough to flourish in harsh conditions. When it flowers, we fleetingly glimpse its glory: at this moment, its simple beauty helps us to understand how the plant represents love and protection.

This reflection in the Bradford River, surely cannot be real, but it is, captured under the canopy of a woodland in full growth, with summer at its height.

Standing alone and yet with the other trees, the bark of the wet tree takes on a new life: the red bark and green fungi, living together in a world we cannot imagine.

The absolute peace and tranquillity of this scene speaks to me of the simple joy of the Caribbean people. A place to rest; a place to reshape our lives, perhaps; a place to celebrate life.

There is an excitement in these flowers – they are proclaiming to us that spring is here: a new year is on its way; rejoice!

Quietly shimmering, this bouquet of blue provides cheer as we see new life all around us.      

Spheres of white, some burst into umbrellas with spider legs coated with red boots. Tiny and so often quivering in the wind.

It seems that there is a marriage in heaven whenever bluebells and beech trees coexist: deep blues and gentle greens in a swathe of privacy.

Journey through fields of Rapeseed, pungent and alive with life      

Me and my son came across this scene on a sunny morning. We became excited by the bright clover that tightly wedged at the edge of the field to have itself a home.

So familiar is the Dove, that this scene is hidden in plain sight. Fleeting are its patterns, ethereal; a flowing essence of the river Dove that enchants all visitors to return often. The image is captured near Mill Dale: blue sky and white cloud enter this living stage.

Taken on a large format, 5x4inch field camera (a Linhof Teknica), using camera movements to get maximum sharpness, with the camera on a tripod.. I was then a younger photographer who could carry large weights and spend long days on the fells. This early morning photograph captures the mood of this ancient land.      

This is one landscape photograph of a series that was commissioned by Macclesfield Borough Council. The dark sky (achieved by fitting an orange filter on the front of the lens) creates an evocative mood in this black and white print.      

Riding home on my bicycle from work in Kendal, I was captivated by the mirrored silence of lake Windermere. I stopped and took this simple image; one that haunts my soul.      

The water quality in the river is almost always crystal clear. This river has a reputation for being the purest in England.

The Caucasian Walnut was introduced to France in 1784 and is here captured burgeoning with seeds, soon to be released to travel on the wind to seek new destinations.
